What is Emotion Code?
The Emotion Code® is a method developed by Dr. Bradley Nelson for identifying and releasing trapped emotions—emotional energies associated with past experiences that, according to the Emotion Code system, can become trapped in the body and contribute to physical discomfort and other imbalances.
The idea behind Emotion Code is that emotional experiences don’t always simply disappear when an event is over. An experience may leave an emotional imprint that continues to affect the body and the way we experience life. By identifying and releasing these trapped emotions, the process seeks to remove an energetic imbalance that may be contributing to physical discomfort or other concerns.
How Does an Emotion Code Session Work?
An Emotion Code session begins with a concern you would like to address. That concern does not have to be emotional in nature. You might be dealing with physical discomfort, a recurring problem, the effects of a past experience, or something that simply doesn’t seem to be resolving.
Using muscle testing and the Emotion Code chart, I work through the assessment process to identify whether a trapped emotion may be associated with the concern. The process can identify the specific emotion and, when indicated, information about the experience with which it is associated.
Once a trapped emotion has been identified, the Emotion Code release process is used to release it.
The process is individualized. We don’t assume that a particular symptom always has a particular emotional cause. We test and allow the process to identify what may be relevant for you.
What Can Emotion Code Be Used For?
Emotion Code may be used to explore trapped emotions associated with a wide variety of concerns, including:
- Physical discomfort or recurring physical concerns
- Stress and the effects of stressful experiences
- Emotional or mental patterns
- Relationship difficulties
- Experiences that continue to affect you
- Feelings of being stuck or unable to move forward
- Concerns that don’t seem to have an obvious explanation
- Past experiences that may still be affecting your present experience
The focus isn’t necessarily on the emotion you are feeling today. Instead, we’re looking for trapped emotional energy that may be contributing to the concern being addressed.
Emotion Code and Body Code
Emotion Code and Body Code are closely related, but they have different scopes.
Emotion Code focuses specifically on trapped emotions.
Body Code provides a much broader framework for exploring potential imbalances, including trapped emotions as well as many other categories.
That means a physical concern may be appropriate for an Emotion Code session even though the concern itself isn’t emotional. If the assessment indicates that trapped emotions are contributing to the issue, Emotion Code provides a way to address them.
If the concern appears to involve other areas as well, Body Code provides a broader framework for exploration.
