Happiness and Health: The Two Most Important Things in Life
The world appears to be obsessed with money and material things. Keeping up appearances … the size of your house, the type of car you drive, and even where you travel on your holidays … has many folks trying to do one better do their friends and family. I find this sad and disheartening.
I have a friend who is like those mentioned above. His thoughts are consumed with money. He is always talking about money … how to earn it, how to spend it, how much he doesn’t have, how much “so and so” makes, all the things he’ll change when he wins the lottery, etc.
He spends more on lottery tickets in a month than some of my friends make in a week. Yet, at the end of the year, he barely breaks even and has spent hours and hours of his time pouring over line after line of his lottery tickets each month and worrying about whether he might have missed a winning number.
Me? I’d rather spend that time with a good book or with friends and family. It creates peace and memories rather than stirring up fear and anxiety. Many of my friends play the lottery and talk about what they will do with their winnings, but these thoughts don’t CONSUME them.
For me … the two most important things in life are health and happiness and money can’t buy these.
When my granddaughter’s daddy was ill last month, I would have given everything in the world to save him. But his life wasn’t something money could buy. Now all she has is memories … but they are wonderful memories filled with love and laughter. As she grows older, she will be glad he spent time with her instead of being consumed with accumulating more material things.
Happiness is much the same. There have been times when I had lots of cash in my back pocket but was sad and depressed. At other times, I have had very little money and yet been at peace and content … even happy. It’s the little things in life that often provide the most glorious memories: playing with friends, pizza and movie night with the family, a walk in the park, ice cream cones on your birthday, etc.
Ironically, when we are content and happy, we are often healthier. Our state of mind impacts our overall well-being immensely. I found that when I changed my thoughts, my life changed. More about how to do that at this post.
Sometimes we need a little help … energy clearing/balancing can be the boost to help us over a rough spot. If that’s you today, you may find an energy-clearing session helpful. You’ll find a list of the sessions I offer at this link.
