This desire for novelty is an evolutionary trait meant to keep us curious and continuously learning (Levitin, 2014). In his book “The Organized Mind: Thinking Straight in the Age of Information Overload”, Daniel Levitin discusses how the brain craves novelty because it releases dopamine, a neurotransmitter responsible for our pleasure and reward system.
In the modern era, our thirst for novelty translates into an attraction to emotionally or mentally engaging content that evokes a strong response. In their study on viral content, Nelson-Field et al. (2013) found that videos with high emotional arousal were more likely to be shared than those with low arousal. Emotions such as awe, amusement, surprise, or anger make content memorable and engaging. This creates a cycle where we seek out information that provides these emotional rewards while simultaneously ignoring less stimulating content.
Additionally, our tendency toward cognitive biases plays a role in our attraction to mental shiny things. As a result, we’re naturally drawn to novel stimuli – such as new information or unexplored subjects – which activate our brain’s reward system (source).
However, in the age of information overload, when we have access to vast amounts of knowledge at our fingertips, this proclivity can become overwhelming. Many people feel constant pressure to keep up with the latest trends or immerse themselves in the next exciting topic. This can lead to stress and burnout as we struggle to absorb everything that catches our interest.
To reduce the stress associated with craving mentally shiny things, it’s crucial to develop healthy coping strategies:
1. Set boundaries: Rather than trying to learn everything about a subject or stay current on all trends within your field, establish clear limits for yourself. For example, allocate specific time blocks each day or week dedicated solely to exploring new areas of interest.

]]>I see Reiki energy as a manifestation of God’s unconditional love. During sessions, my Christian clients have shared profound experiences of the Holy Spirit, revealing God’s presence and love.
When I practice Reiki, I pray for the person receiving it. I don’t presume to tell God what someone needs, as He sees them more completely. Regardless of your beliefs, rest assured that I am praying for your highest good, and Reiki is a gentle and beneficial practice.
Is Reiki compatible with Christianity? Ultimately, the Holy Spirit is the reliable authority on this matter. It took me time and prayer to find peace with Reiki, allowing scripture and the Lord to guide me. If you genuinely seek guidance, the Lord can reveal the truth to your mind and heart.
Critics often fall into three categories, including those who question the existence of energy systems. It’s beneficial to explore recent science and understand the intersection of ancient spirituality with modern physics. Reiki, as a healing practice, aligns with the energy of life itself that comes from God.
Addressing concerns about channeling, I don’t channel spirit guides; my guide is the Lord Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit. While Reiki practitioners may ask for spiritual guidance, my focus is on God’s guidance. Reiki symbols are neutral and are words written in Japanese and are to used as a focal point. Much like any other symbol, they can carry both positive and negative associations. I do not use Reiki symbols and never have because I never felt the need to do anything other than ask God/Jesus for their assistance.
I believe in using both prayer and Reiki, just as one might use prayer alongside medical care. Reiki is not a substitute for medical attention but can complement it. It’s essential to recognize that the glory belongs to God, not the practitioner.
In my personal experience, Reiki has enhanced my prayer life by fostering trust in God’s wisdom and control. It has taught me to let go and let God, deepening my ability to rely on His guidance for the well-being of others.

The dual nature of electrons, non-locality theories, and connected particles all find parallels in Christian practices, such as distant healing through faith. Exploring Quantum Physics principles can deepen our understanding, confident that they harmonize with the truths already established in the Bible. As Christians, let us courageously explore these principles, recognizing that the mysteries of the unseen world are already acknowledged in our faith.

There are also books and classes. While I do offer sessions that help clear entities, please know that you have more authority over them than a 3rd party if they are affecting you or your family. I also understand that there are times, we are just too overwhelmed and need the assistance of someone outside the home to get things started and I’m happy to help if one of my sessions is appropriate.
